Be A Hero @ Planet Wisdom!!

   January 16-17, 2009 - Lakeland Center 

What is The Planet Wisdom Weekend?  

PlanetWisdom is about discipleship. The goal is to help students move from spiritual adolescence into a mature faith. Planet Wisdom's speakers and worship leaders are passionate about empowering students to become thinking, growing, authentic followers of Jesus Christ. And they are committed to supporting parents and youth workers in the local church.

The Planet Wisdom weekend is designed to engage the whole person- the heart and the head. With the combination of solid biblical teaching from Mark Matlock, powerful worship led by "Dutton", interactive audience exercises, and thought provoking, funny skits from The Skit Guys, your students will be ministered to on every level, and they won't get bored!

Your students will leave with more than an emotional high. They'll leave PlanetWisdom with greater knowledge of God's wisdom, and a deeper understanding of how to apply it to their daily lives. Help your students become world-changers. Don't let them miss out on this life-changing discipleship experience.

What Is This year's Theme?

Wisdom...More Than Meets The Eye 

 More than grades, sports, dating, money, college, fashion and fame. God has called you to a journey that will change you and change the world. You have been chosen to walk the path of the hero. God has given everything you need to navigate this journey. Through His word, God has given us access to wisdom that will give you the strength and guidance required to live the heroic life He has called you to.

7:00pm - Conference Kick-Off
7:30pm - Session One: The Heroes Journey
8:45pm - Session Two: Accepting the Call

9:00am - Session 3: Forces That Guide: Part 1
10:30pm - Session 4: Forces That Guide: Part 2
Noon - Lunch Break
1:45pm - Session 5: Living the Journey

Who will Be There? 

   Mark Matlock  
Mark is passionate about discipleship and the transformational power of God’s Word. For more than 17 years he has worked with students, and his teaching style engages teenagers in a powerful way. His hope is to challenge and equip students for lifelong faith. On the web http://www.planetwisdom.com/

     The Skit Guys
Tommy and Eddie use humorous skits (hence the name!) to speak to students about life and truth in a way that really gets through. Their skits add an exciting dimension to the weekend as they reinforce the learning that’s already taking place. On the web http://www.skitguys.com/
     Dutton 
Each member of Dutton feels called to create music that draws people into God's presence, and they have used this calling to lead in corporate worship settings across the country for the past four years. Their home church is now The Heights in Richardson, TX, where they lead worship on Sunday mornings.    On the web http://www.duttonband.com/ 

What Are The Travel Details?

Cost: Total cost for the Planet Wisdom Weekend is $95.00. This includes admission, materials, transportation, hotel, and a conference t-shirt.

Scholarships: We don’t want finances to keep a student from attending. If a scholarship is needed, or if you’d like to provide a scholarship for another student, please contact Kevin at 253-3411 or by email at kglenn@bayshorebaptistchurch.com

Payments: Final payments and paperwork are due Sunday, January 4, 2009.

This hotel is walking distance from the conference center!

Information on our departure and return: We will be travel by charter bus. We will meet at 4:30 pm on Friday, January 16 at the Bayshore Baptist Church parking lot. It is important that your student   arrive on time as we will need to finish check-in and hit the road no later than 5:00 p.m. Parents of Middle Schoolers will need to check them out of school early.We plan to return between 7-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 17 to the Bayshore parking lot. One of our youth workers will contact parents when we are 30  minutes from arrival. Please be present to pick up your student when we arrive.

 

Chaperones: No Bayshore youth trip or event is complete without a group of committed adults coming to help make the weekend smooth and safe. However, rumor has it that these adults have been known to have just as much fun as the students!! If you are interested in coming along as one of our "designated grown-ups", let Kevin know.
